Illahee Capital tracks the capital structures, financing models, and operational frameworks driving agricultural transition in the Netherlands and across the EU.

Netherlands, Groene Hart

An independent project at the intersection of capital and transition.

Illahee Capital was founded in 2025 by Labe Orloff to help expand the financial and operational resources available to regenerative agriculture farms and food businesses across Europe.

Illahee Capital believes the food system works better when it is rooted in healthy land, strong local supply chains, and the communities that depend on them. Its work focuses on keeping farmland productive, reducing food insecurity, supporting small businesses and family farms, and helping good food reach the chefs and food businesses throughout the EU that want it.

The Netherlands is the most pressured agricultural market in Europe and the most organized for transition. The capital is committed. The programs are active. The supply chains are forming.

The questions worth
asking out loud.

European regenerative agriculture has attracted significant institutional attention over the past five years. Development banks, impact funds, and blended finance vehicles are all moving. What is less clear is whether the capital is reaching the farm, whether the financial structures being deployed are fit for purpose, and what the operational gap looks like between a fund's investment thesis and a farmer's balance sheet.

Illahee Capital follows those questions: the financing gap, the instruments being used to bridge it, the fund managers building operational models in Europe, and the policy environment in the Netherlands and EU that shapes what is possible.

Why Now · Why NL
The Netherlands is the most intensively farmed land in Europe and faces the most acute pressure to transform, from EU nitrogen policy, water quality regulation, and generational farm succession. Government programs, development banks, and major buyers are already moving. The question is not whether transition happens. It is how it gets financed.
